Health (K5)

Health education in K5 through 8th grade includes both a personal and community approach to health care. K5 children are taught the basics of caring for themselves. They are also exposed to others in the community concerned with health and safety. Read more from the National Health Education Standards.

Core Concepts

Students will comprehend concepts related to health promotion and disease prevention to enhance health.

Analyzing Influences

Students will analyze the influence of family, peers, culture, media, technology and other factors on health behaviors.

Interpersonal Communication

Students will demonstrate the ability to use interpersonal communication skills to enhance health and avoid or reduce health risks.

Decision Making

Students will demonstrate the ability to use decision-making skills to enhance health. 

Goal Setting

Students will demonstrate the ability to use goal-setting skills to enhance health.
