Off to the Ivy League to study health care: Adam Xiong
Adam Xiong is an MPS Class of 2014 graduate and part of the Start, Stay, Succeed campaign.
Hmong American Peace Academy graduate Adam Xiong will be taking a simple philosophy with him as he heads off to the Ivy League’s Brown University this fall.
“Opportunities arise from what you make out of what you are given,” he said.
Xiong started his education at MPS’ MacDowell Montessori School, now located in the Bluemound Heights neighborhood on the west side.
He went to high school at HAPA, a charter school authorized by MPS located on the northwest side. Xiong plans to study health care at Brown, located in Providence, R.I.
The HAPA grad says Mrs. Kalman, the school’s internship coordinator, has been the most influential educator in his school career. His mother has been the most influential adult.
After graduating college, Xiong says he hopes to travel the world and help those in need.
His advice for students following his path to success: “Don’t give up, stay motivated and realize the decisions you make today have an impact on your success in the future.”
