Kindergarten Enrollment Fair Sat. Feb. 20, 2021

Enrollment is open until March 21, 2021

Will your child turn 3, 4, or 5 years old by September 1, 2021? It's time to enroll for Head Start and kindergarten! Learn about MPS schools and how to enroll at a virtual Kindergarten Enrollment Fair on February 20 from 9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. Registration is recommended but drop-in attendees are welcome at more about the fair and enrollment.

Lois Womack Receives Teaching Award

Congratulations to Lois Womack of Marvin Pratt Elementary School! Womack is one of five Wisconsin educators named by State Superintendent Carolyn Stanford Taylor for the 2020 Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. The award is considered the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. government for math and science teachers. Read the story of this prestigious award.


MPS Virtual Job Fair -- Now Hiring for Fall 2021

MPS is seeking teachers, school counselors, librarians, nurses, school social workers, and speech language pathologists for Fall 2021. Receive information at a curbside event at MPS Central Services on February 23 from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. and attend a virtual job fair on February 25 from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Read more about these hiring events and get ready to apply! Teachers must have a valid Wisconsin teaching license by August 1, 2021.


ACT Testing for 11th Graders -- Take Our Survey

All Wisconsin students in 11th grade take the ACT test free each year. An ACT score is required as part of the admission process by many colleges and universities. The ACT must be taken in person.

MPS will be offering the ACT test in March and April. Parents/guardians, please watch your email for important information and complete our ACT survey to indicate your child's interest in taking the ACT.

MPS Celebrates Black History Month

Students at Fernwood Montessori and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School are celebrating Black History Month with special projects. Read about their profiles of Black leaders and events around the Black Film Festival!


Register Now -- Student Job Fair

The annual MPS Student Job Fair will be virtual this year. Students age 16 and older can visit with employers, learn about careers, and find out how to apply for summer or part-time employment. Drop in from 9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 10, 2021. Sign up for the MPS Student Job Fair!


Summer Academy Registration Is Open

Get ready for Summer Academy! Visit for all the details.

Grades K5-8 can take part in a six-week camp with weekly themes in art, music, math, science, and literacy. Session runs June 22 to July 29 from 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M.

Middle and high school students can catch up on credits or get ahead. Two sessions are available: June 7-July 2 and July 6-29 from 8:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M.

Free Fresh Produce for Children Continues in February

MPS will continue to offer bags of fresh fruits and vegetables to children in February through the federal Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program. Each bag will contain nutrition facts and recipes so families can cook together and enjoy new healthy food options. Learn more on the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program web page.

Families can pick up a produce bag Feb. 25 at Stop, Grab, and Go locations during regular meal distribution hours of 11:00 A.M. to 1:30 P.M.

8th Graders: Apply Now for PEOPLE!

The PEOPLE program provides support throughout high school so students are on a pathway to a University of Wisconsin college. Participation includes scholarship opportunities. Applications are due March 5, 2021. Learn more about the PEOPLE program!

Need Money for College? Fill out the FAFSA!

The first step in finding money for college is to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). UWM College for Kids & Teens

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee offers spring and summer courses in science, math, language, social sciences, arts, and more for students in K5 through high school. No Meal Distribution March 19

MPS does not distribute meals to students on scheduled days off. Breakfast, lunch, and supper will not be distributed on March 19, 2021.

Chromebook Support

If your student's Chromebook is not working properly, do not try to repair it yourself. Email the MPS Technology Support Center at immediately or call (414) 438-3400 . Live Parent Portal (Infinite Campus) support is available from 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M., Monday through Friday.
