Dear MPS staff,
Thank you for your continued support during the school closure. We recognize this has been a very difficult time for you and your families and we want to express our profound gratitude to you for the incredible work you have done to support your students’ learning and social/emotional health.
As we look ahead to the upcoming school year, we must make some important decisions about what school will look like and how our students will experience learning. We understand that this is a fluid and ever-changing situation and we are approaching this work thoughtfully, collaboratively, and with an enormous sense of responsibility. We want to ensure you that MPS remains committed to the health and safety of our students and employees and the consistent delivery of a high-quality educational experience for all students.
We are creating opportunities throughout this process for our students, families, and staff to help inform a final plan that keeps the safety and shared interests of our whole community in mind. Your input is essential, and we ask that you give us your feedback by taking the Staff School Reopening Survey. Please complete this survey by July 8, 2020.
Our initial school reopening plan includes three scenarios — in-person learning, virtual learning and a hybrid learning model. We are in daily contact with public health experts and other leaders from across the city and state who are sharing best practices and expanding our thinking as we consider the many complexities of how daily school operations, academics, school safety protocols, student transportation, meal service, and much more will need to change to promote safe and inclusive environments for everyone.
There is still much work to do. Please take the time to fill out the survey mentioned above. Your input is needed to help guide the decisions that are made for our upcoming school year. Our goal is to share a final school reopening plan in July so staff, students, and families can prepare for a successful and safe school year.
Thank you in advance for your participation and feedback.
Dr. Keith P. Posley
