Senior Exit Survey

Milwaukee Public Schools has been administering the Senior Exit Survey (SES) to graduating seniors every spring since the 2010-2011 school year.  The survey was modeled after a similar tool used by Chicago Public Schools.

The SES provides a rich source of information on students’ future goals, aspirations, and perceptions of their experience as MPS students specific to college and career readiness.  Results from the SES are used for two primary purposes:

  1. To comply with state law which requires MPS to submit annually to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI); a report on seniors’ post-graduation plans (previously referred to as the “Bound For” report in MPS).
  2. To provide information on students’ future goals, aspirations, and perceptions of their experiences as MPS students specific to college and career readiness, and to identify potential areas in which key steps in the process of preparing for college and careers had not been fulfilled.
