The PRISM Program is a mental wellness resource for LGBTQ+ youth in Wisconsin. We're a team of queer and/or trans Certified Peer Specialists trained to use our lived experiences with mental health and substance use struggles to support others in their recovery journey. PRISM stands for Peer Recovery in Supportive Mutuality. We see that connection based on community and solidarity has transformative power, similar to the way a prism refracts light to create a beautiful rainbow.
Currently, we offer free one-on-one support through our warmline as well as online and in-person support groups. We're hoping to offer in-person groups in Milwaukee and Madison soon!

The Milwaukee LGBT Community Center delivers educational, health promotion, and community-building services that meet the needs of LGBT youth, adults, and their allies in the Greater Milwaukee area from its primary facility and other sites. The Center programs are developed with a consideration of community need, diversity, and inclusivity, community development, availability of resources, and the Center’s mission and vision.
Courage MKE became an idea of Co-Founders, Brad and Nick Schlaikowski while they were foster parents upon learning the children's stories of rejection, fear and survival. Together they welcomed multiple homeless and displaced LGBTQ+ youth into their home. It is because of their tenacity, Brad and Nick started Courage MKE in their honor in December 2015.
Knowing they were starting from the ground up, Brad and Nick along with their amazing Board of Directors made it Courage MKE's mission to raise awareness within our communities of the growing epidemic of homeless LGBTQ+ youth.
The community listened and Courage MKE, along with so many supporters and allies, together, we have brought the conversation to the forefront of conversations throughout Milwaukee.

Our services also include puberty-suppressing hormone therapy, gender-affirming hormone therapy, surgical treatments, and speech/voice training. Furthermore, we can provide children and adolescents with connections to other resources and support within Children’s Wisconsin and the community.
