Schoolwide

The Schoolwide program purpose is to upgrade core academic programs to ensure that all students are achieving high levels of academic proficiency.

Title I schools with at least a 40 percent poverty rate are eligible to apply for schoolwide status. The development and implementation of a high quality Schoolwide program should begin with a planning committee of all stakeholders-staff, parents, and community partners. As a group determine what the areas of need are for all students and what the vision of the new programming will be.

The steps to become a Title I Schoolwide program include:

  1. Notify the MPS Title I Office of intent to apply for Schoolwide status. The MPS Title I office can provide support and answer questions that may arise during the Schoolwide planning process.

  2. Create a school profile that includes existing information and data about student needs, curriculum and instruction, professional development, family and community involvement and school context and organization. Summarize and discuss the data to develop Schoolwide priorities and share with key stakeholders.

  3. Write the plan and develop priority needs based on the data.

  4. Evaluate the plan.

During the application process:

  1. Submit Form PI-9551 to the Title I Coordinator at least 4 weeks prior to the DPI due date.

  2. The Title I office will review and request revisions if necessary.

  3. The Title I office will approve the final version and obtain the Superintendents’ signature.

  4. The Title I office will submit the finalized application to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction for their approval.
