Talented Milwaukee singers, dancers, actors, and choreographers are in rehearsals for this year’s production of “We Are the Drum.” This annual high-energy musical revue promises an exciting evening of music and dance in a community setting. Performances run February 23–March 3, 2024, at Milwaukee Marshall High School. This year’s theme is “The Rhythm of Our State.”
Students of all ages from a number of MPS schools will be performing in this year’s show. Many have extensive training and talent, and the event includes emerging young artists with no prior singing or dancing experience. Show organizers set high standards each year to offer a theater experience that rivals a Las Vegas production.
“We Are the Drum” is a community program offered by CAPITA Productions, a nonprofit organization with the mission of bridging cultural gaps, uniting Milwaukee area youth, and offering a constructive outlet for creative expression. The name CAPITA stands for City at Peace in the Arts.
CAPITA organizers and directors have been recruiting students, hosting rehearsals, coaching students, and preparing for the show for several months. Talented staff members and volunteers bring their energy to develop the talents of children who participate. CAPITA does not charge fees for children who take part in the show.
Milwaukee Marshall High is located at 4141 N. 64th Street in Milwaukee.
