Watch MPS drumlines compete for city title on December 9

MPS drummers will compete to snare city titleJoin us for an exciting afternoon! MPS drumlines will roll out their best performances on Saturday, December 9, 2023, when the 21st Annual MPS Battle of the Drumlines crowns a new City Champion. Spectators will be treated to stick tricks, precision drumming, and showmanship in this dazzling contest. The battle will include the Rufus King International High School Drumline, the 2022–23 City Champion.

Eight high school drumlines and two middle school drumlines are scheduled to appear. Attendees are encouraged and expected to cheer for their favorite drummers from among MPS’ finest. Spectator tickets are $3 at the door.

Participating high schools in 2023 are:

  • Bradley Tech High School
  • MacDowell Montessori School
  • Marshall High School
  • Reagan High School
  • Riverside University High School
  • Rufus King High School Junior Varsity
  • Rufus King High School Varsity
  • Washington High School

Middle schools represented at this year’s drumline competition are:

  • Humboldt Park School
  • Milwaukee Parkside School for the Arts

The event will also include a special performance by Milwaukee Hittaz Drum Corps, a community drumline featuring many MPS alumni.

Rufus King International High School is located at 1801 W. Olive St. in Milwaukee.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and competition begins at 12:00 p.m.
