Trowbridge students and staff will relocate while school is deep cleaned after lead finding

Trowbridge Street School of Great Lakes Studies in Bay View. The Milwaukee Health Department is requiring students and staff from Trowbridge Street School of Great Lakes Studies to temporarily relocate to a different MPS site while the building undergoes deep cleaning. The decision was made over concerns about lead dust levels inside the school.

Trowbridge will conduct classes for all 243 students at Wisconsin Conservatory of Lifelong Learning (WCLL), at 1017 N. 12th St., beginning on Monday, March 3, 2025.

MPS will make every effort to help the school day operate normally. Students will receive breakfast and lunch, and those who ride a school bus will receive bus services. Families who need transportation for their children should call (414) 475-8922.

After cleaning is complete and the health department has retested the school and determined it is safe, students and staff will be allowed to return to Trowbridge.

Families with health-related questions can contact their health care provider, visit the Milwaukee Health Department Home Environmental Health web page, or call the Milwaukee Health Department at (414) 286-2165. Information also is available on the MPS Lead Report webpage

Families who have questions related to the school day or extracurricular programs can reach Trowbridge staff at (414) 294-1900.
