Sabores que Inspiran (Flavors that Inspire) is the 2025 theme at MPS for Hispanic Heritage Month

Poster celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month.Milwaukee Public Schools is holding its annual celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, dedicated to honoring the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans. From September 15 to October 15, the district joins communities across the nation in recognizing the profound impact of Hispanic heritage on our society.

On October 18, the district will hold its annual celebration of Hispanic culture, open to all. The 2025 theme is Sabores que Inspiran (Flavors that Inspire), highlighting the powerful role of Hispanic cuisine as a reflection of history and a source of creativity and cultural pride.

Food is a story of ancestry, migration, and traditions passed down through generations. Through flavors, recipes, and culinary innovations, Hispanic communities have made lasting contributions. These cuisines connect communities to their roots while inspiring future generations.

MPS is excited to host a series of presentations at the celebration by district schools, each focusing on the cuisines and culinary heritage of Spanish-speaking countries. These presentations will provide an educational and engaging look into the diverse dishes, traditions, and stories that reflect the richness of Hispanic cultures.

The celebration will showcase the creativity of MPS students and community members, featuring food-inspired art and storytelling, as well as opportunities to share the flavors that have shaped our communities. These presentations will be a joyous and festive expression of Sabores que Inspiran, demonstrating how cuisine brings together people, fosters cultural pride, and continues to inspire.

Experience the creativity and history reflected in Hispanic cuisines on October 18 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the lobby of Bradley Tech, 700 S. 4th St. The event is free and open to the public and will include performances plus games and activities for children.

This is an opportunity to come together to appreciate the vibrant tapestry of Hispanic culture through its flavors, deepen our understanding, and foster inclusivity.

By celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, we honor the past, celebrate the present, and look forward to a future enriched by the enduring legacy of Hispanic and Latino Americans.
