Regional Superintendent Reginald Lawrence departs MPS

Regional Superintendent Reginald LawrenceAfter nearly 29 years in Milwaukee Public Schools, Dr. Reginald L. Lawrence II will leave the district for a superintendent post in Illinois. Lawrence will assume the role of superintendent for Rock Island-Milan School District No. 41, located near the Illinois-Iowa border. His new position begins June 3, 2019.

Lawrence was an MPS student and attended Garfield Avenue, Ben Franklin, and Granville Elementary schools, graduating from Vincent High School. In MPS, he served as a teacher at the elementary and middle school levels, assistant principal, and principal before accepting the position of regional superintendent in 2010.

We are grateful to Dr. Lawrence for his service to the students of MPS, and we wish him all the best for continued success!
