The Milwaukee Public Schools Virtual Program (MVP) is now Milwaukee Virtual School (MVS)! Some seats are still open for Fall 2025.
Education through MVS is delivered via Imagine Learning virtual instruction. Seats are available for students in Milwaukee County and surrounding counties.
MVS has been approved by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction as an MPS charter school. MVS is a full-time online program that offers a flexible schedule for students and families in K4 through grade 12 who prefer virtual learning. The coursework carries the same accreditation and accountability required for in-person schools.
MVS offers added benefits that students and families won’t find anywhere else.
- Parent Support Center for in-person technology help and resources
- Imagine Learning Specialist for platform support
- Face-to-face instruction one hour per day for K4 to grade 5 plus computer-based instruction, a workbook, and materials
- On-demand tutoring seven days per week for grades 6–12
- Teacher mentors support all grade levels in all subjects
- Students can join sports, clubs, and activities at a nearby MPS school, including prom, science fair, job fairs, spelling bee, and theater
- Instruction available in Spanish, French, and other languages
- College and career planning
- Dual enrollment to earn college credit through MATC and UWM
- In-person graduation ceremony for high school seniors
Why choose MVS for virtual education?
- Students learn at their own pace.
- No transportation is needed—students learn at home, in the library, or anywhere they choose.
- Some students prefer personalized learning in a familiar setting.
- A flexible schedule allows children and teens to take part in sports, dance, music, or other pursuits at a high level.
- Students with special needs can be assessed for placement.
- MVS students are equipped with a Chromebook and access to all necessary software and class materials.
- High school students can take Advanced Placement (AP) courses while enrolled in the virtual program.
- For grades 6–12, students work at their own pace, on their own schedule; lessons are selected on the student’s schedule.
What do families need to know about MVS?
- MVS offers a Parent Center where family members can drop in on school days to ask questions and get additional help. The Parent Center is located at the MPS Success Center, 3872 N. 8th St., Milwaukee, WI 53206, and is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each school day
- A family member is required to attend an orientation session to ensure understanding of the program. An adult in the home is expected to serve as a learning coach to support and assist children. For students to be successful, the adult is expected to monitor the student’s progress and stay up to date on communications sent from staff.
- To register, families are required to view an informative video. At the end of the video, families can enter information to receive an email within two business days to complete the enrollment.
- Students remain in the program for the full semester. If desired, they may transition to in-person learning at the end of a semester. Due to the differences in virtual and in-person curriculum, students cannot transfer during a semester.
For more information, to view an informative video, and to register, visit mpsmke.com/mvs or call (414) 252-0242. All applications will receive a response within two business days.
Registration for Fall 2025 is open. The first day of school is Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
