MPS students celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday

MLK Event BannerMilwaukee Public Schools students will perform, deliver speeches, and share artwork during Milwaukee’s 37th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Birthday Celebration. The event will be livestreamed by the Marcus Performing Arts Center on Sunday, January 17, 2021, at 1:00 P.M. and is free to the public.

This year marks the 37th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Birthday Celebration in Milwaukee, which is one of only two cities that have celebrated the holiday annually since 1984. This year’s theme is “Keep Moving Forward.”

Student winners of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Speech Contest will be seen via video during the celebration. Artwork by winners in the Art Contest will be seen via slideshow, and student groups will perform.
