Families are encouraged to explore options this summer so children can receive free meals at Milwaukee Public Schools sites. All Milwaukee children age 18 and under are eligible. Free breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be offered but vary by site. This summer, meals must be eaten on site and are not available to be carried off site.
The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), which is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and is administered by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, provides nutritious meals to children during the summer, when school meals are typically unavailable. Persons over 18 years of age who are determined by a state or local public educational agency to be mentally or physically disabled and who also participate in a public or private nonprofit school program during the regular school year may receive free meals as well. Meals are provided to eligible children regardless of race, color, national origin, age, gender, or disability.
Parents or students can find the nearest meal location and check dates, schedules, and offerings at mpsmke.com/summermeals.
We look forward to serving children in our cafeterias this summer!
