Milwaukee Public Schools wants to help students get the new school year off to a great start! The district is offering important information to guide families as the start of school approaches this fall.
MPS schools on the early start calendar (all high schools, all grade 6–8 middle schools, all K–12 schools, and seven of our elementary schools) begin school Monday, August 15, 2022.
MPS schools on the traditional calendar (most elementary schools) begin school Tuesday, September 6, 2022.
To check which calendar is used by your child’s school, visit our School Calendars webpage.
To help you locate essential information, our home page on the MPS website has been updated. Look for new buttons to access details about enrollment, school supply lists, COVID-19 updates and mask policy, academic programs, and transportation.
A new school year means new school supplies! Find the supply list for your child’s grade level (K3–8) on our Supply Lists webpage. High school students will receive information regarding classroom supplies from their instructors.
COVID-19 is still a concern across the country. MPS will require masks to be worn by students and staff when levels in Milwaukee County are rated in the High category by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The CDC updates its data every Thursday. Using this data, MPS will make determinations every Thursday, with mask requirements being revised for the following school day and subsequent week. The district mask status will be available on the MPS COVID-19 Updates webpage.
MPS is proud to offer free breakfast and lunch to every student in the district on school days. For more information, visit the MPS Nutrition Services webpage.
We know that families will have questions—please contact your child’s teacher, principal, or school office any time assistance is needed.
We’re looking forward to a great school year!
