MPS monitors coronavirus and advisories from health officials

Central Services Building

Milwaukee Public Schools continues to take steps to provide preventive measures to students and staff to safeguard against the spread of the coronavirus in the district. MPS is collaborating with the City of Milwaukee Health Department, Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and Council of the Great City Schools in following recommendations and guidelines to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The MPS Department of Facilities and Maintenance continues to follow a revised cleaning schedule, providing more frequent and thorough cleaning in schools and district facilities.

MPS recognizes that any decisions to close schools can have a major impact on families. Families will be notified immediately if any changes are made to the regular school schedule. Please make sure your contact information is current at your child's school.

All individuals can minimize the chances of spreading coronavirus by washing hands often, staying home when sick, and covering any coughing or sneezing with a tissue. Anyone who becomes sick with symptoms more severe than an ordinary cold is advised to seek medical care.

MPS takes the health and safety of students, families, and staff seriously. District leaders are following coronavirus carefully and will provide updates as needed.
