Donate mittens and more to MPS students through January 31

Mitten TreeWinter weather is fast approaching in southeast Wisconsin! For students who wait at bus stops or walk to school, winter gear is essential. MPS is working to keep students warm by launching its annual Mitten Tree Drive. New mittens, gloves, caps, scarves, and socks, along with long underwear, leggings, and thermal wear, will be collected through January 31, 2024. Warm winter clothing can be dropped off at MPS Central Services.

Handmade and purchased items are welcome. Mittens and other winter items are needed for boys and girls of all grade levels, from three-year-olds through teens. Black Friday shoppers: Consider watching for bargains and donating early!

Last year, thanks to our generous partners and community donors, more than 3,000 items were collected that kept students warm all winter long. Help us break last year’s record and donate soon!

MPS Central Services is located at 5225 W. Vliet St., Milwaukee, 53208.

Please note that all MPS locations will be closed Dec. 23-26 and Dec. 29 - Jan. 1.
