Select Criteria Schools

The district has five Select Criteria high schools.

Five high schools in the Milwaukee Public Schools family are Select Criteria high schools. Families can apply to the schools during Early Admissions. The five schools are:

Rufus King International High School
Golda Meir School
Milwaukee High School of the Arts
Ronald Reagan College Preparatory High School
Riverside University High School

  • Students applying to all MPS Select Criteria high schools must attend one test session (see a list of sessions on the Early Admissions calendar). The test is an essay written during the session. Students simply attend a test session to participate; students do not register in advance. The test results will be shared with any of the five schools to which a student applies.
  • Students who would like to request extended time related to a disability, medical/mental health issues, or English language proficiency, must provide documentation. The documentation, in the form of an IEP, 504 Plan, ACCESS for ELLs scores or medical/mental health information must be presented when checking in for the assessment.
  • Students who were not in an MPS school in 7th grade will need to provide additional information (see the bottom of this page).
  • Students applying to Golda Meir School must also submit two (2) teacher letters of recommendation to the school as part of their application.
  • Students applying Milwaukee High School of the Arts must also audition as part of their application process. (Audition dates are available on the Early Admissions calendar.)
