Hairspray Jr.

Summer Musical Camp

Don't miss your chance to be a part of the first all-city musical! This summer, join Milwaukee Public Schools and Milwaukee Recreation as they present Hairspray Jr.!

The five-week summer musical camp experience is for students in grades 5-9 and offers students an opportunity to develop skills in acting, singing, and dancing.

You can't stop the beat in this big and bold adaptation of the Tony Award–winning musical about one girl's inspiring dream to dance and change the world.

The program culminates with three performances of Hairspray Jr. on July 28 and 29.

Details

  • When: Mondays through Fridays, June 26 to July 28, 2017, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (No sessions will be held July 3 or 4.)
  • Location: Riverside University High School, 1615 E. Locust Street, Milwaukee, WI 53211
  • Cost: $80 resident/$160 nonresident
  • Lunch will be provided daily.

choir campSummer Choir Camp – for students entering grades 6-12 

Summer Choir Camp provides students with an introductory experience in the choral ensemble where they learn music concepts, vocabulary, and skills through the performance of choral repertoire. Prior vocal experience is not required.

orchestra campSummer Orchestra Camp – for students entering grades 6-12 

Summer Orchestra Camp provides students with an introductory experience on string instruments (violin, viola, cello, bass) where they learn music concepts, vocabulary, and skills through the performance of orchestral repertoire. Prior instrumental music experience is not required. See information on instrument rental below.

band campSummer Band Camp – for students entering grades 6-12 

Summer Band Camp provides students with an introductory experience on band instruments (woodwinds, brass, percussion) where they learn music concepts, vocabulary, and skills through the performance of band repertoire. Prior instrumental music experience is not required. See information on instrument rental below.

Jazz campSummer Jazz Camp – for students entering grades 6-12 

Summer Jazz Camp provides students with an introductory experience on performance skills in the jazz ensemble (saxophone, trumpet, trombone, bass, guitar, piano) where they learn music concepts, vocabulary, and skills through the performance of jazz repertoire. Prior instrumental music is required. See information on instrument rental below.

  • July 17–21, 2017
  • 8:30–11:30 a.m.

  • Registration: $20 resident/$40 nonresident
