College and Career Readiness Workshops


The College and Career Centers will offer a range of workshops over the summer to support class of 2017 graduates in preparing to be successful college freshmen. For more information about workshops or to sign up, fill out our Summer Programming Registration Form here. Check out these workshops offered through the College and Career Centers during summer 2017:

Finance: “FAFSA: The Final Frontier”

If I did all my calculations correctly, I'll be debt-free by the time I'm 103. . . . Congratulations! You've finished filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)! Now what? This workshop explains everything that happens after a student hits "submit" on their FAFSA.

Managing Your Money

Way to go! You qualify for financial aid! Now what do you do with all that money? How do you make sure it lasts all year? What do you do if your financial aid package doesn’t cover all your college expenses? This workshop will cover everything you need to know about budgeting and saving once you are out on your own.

Campus Life: “The Social Network”

This presentation will allow you to gain an understanding of the importance of making new friends, meeting new people, and getting involved on campus while taking care of yourself socially, emotionally, physically, and mentally.

Life on a Predominantly White Campus: “MPS True Life: I Am a Student of Color Attending a Predominantly White College Campus”

Attend this panel discussion to hear from recent high school graduates about campus life, opportunities, success stories, and challenges they face while attending a predominantly white institution.

Life at a Historically Black College or University: “MPS True Life: I Am Attending a Historically Black College/University (HBCU)”

Attend this panel discussion to hear from recent high school graduates about campus life, opportunities, success stories, and challenges they face while attending an HBCU.

Life on a College Campus as an Undocumented Student: “MPS True Life: I Am an Undocumented Student on a College Campus”

Attend this panel discussion to hear from recent high school graduates who are undocumented about campus life, opportunities, success stories, and the challenges they face.

Advocacy and Accommodations: “Only Human”

This presentation will introduce you to the many college campus resources available, and you will learn the skills necessary to access the various levels of support services on campus.

Academic Transition: “A Series of Unfortunate Events”

This presentation will give you the necessary tools to help you succeed in your first year on your college campus.

Senior Send-Off


Celebrate MPS grads at Senior Send-Off 2017!

Are you a proud class of 2017 grad, or do you know one? Join us to celebrate the hard work and future endeavors of Milwaukee Public Schools’ graduates.
Where: North Division High School — football field
When: Friday, July 21, 2017, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Enjoy delicious catering from Bunzel’s Meat Market, music by DJ  O, and a variety of recreational games.

Every attending class of 2017 grad will receive a raffle ticket for the opportunity to win cool prizes to deck out their college dorm! Additional raffle tickets can be earned by participating in summer workshops, visiting a College and Career Center, or communicating with a student advisor via texting.

  • MPS CACC–James Madison: 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
