MPS educator named 'Music Teacher of the Year'

Two Milwaukee Public Schools music educators will be honored for excellence in music education by the Civic Music Association of Milwaukee. Benjamin Zabor, director of band and orchestra at MPS’ Rufus King International High School, has been selected by the Civic Music Association of Milwaukee to receive its 2016 Music Teacher of the Year Award. Jessica Marks, a music and chorus teacher at Academy of Accelerated Learning will also be honored. She is being recognized for Excellence in General Music Instruction.

MPS history teacher wins state Teacher of the Year award, nominated for national award

Margaret Holtgreive, a teacher at Milwaukee Public Schools’ Ronald Reagan College Preparatory High School, is the Wisconsin high school winner of National History Day’s Patricia Behring Teacher of the Year Award. The award recognizes teachers for “outstanding creativity, commitment and inspiration in developing student interest in history education.”

Bicycling a way of life and preferred means of transportation for MPS paraprofessional

Rain and snow don’t keep Barbara Connolly-Blick from riding her bicycle. It’s how she gets around Milwaukee - including traveling to and from work. Connolly-Blick, a paraprofessional at Golda Meir School, said she began regularly riding her bike to work from her home in the city’s Washington Heights neighborhood in 2003.

Congratulations to Alexander Hamilton High School teacher Tiffany Hagey who was selected as B93.3 FM’s Teacher of the Year. Hagey qualified for the teacher of the year award after being selected as the station’s Teacher of the Month for April.
