Reading Lists

Reading ListsWhy is summer reading so important?

Summer is a time to relax and enjoy; it is also a time to keep learning! Literacy experts agree that one of the best things parents and other adults can do to support a child’s learning and development is to encourage a life-long love of reading.

Through summer reading, students can visit distant lands, explore new ideas, and learn about different cultures and time periods. Summer reading is a great way to exercise your mind.

Summer reading is importantOur summer reading lists feature books for each grade level. Each grade even has its own board on Pinterest with a variety of books for you to choose from. Plus, each book cover image links to where you can reserve them from the Milwaukee Public Library!

We encourage all MPS students to take advantage of everything the Milwaukee Public Library has to offer, including its summer reading program!
