Aspiring Nurse headed to UW-Milwaukee: Ashley Brown
Ashley Brown is an MPS Class of 2014 graduate and part of the Start, Stay, Succeed campaign.
If you ask Ashley Brown, a graduate of Milwaukee Public Schools’ Casimir Pulaski High School, about the adults who had the greatest impact on her education, she’ll tell you there are far too many to pick just one.
“All of my teachers,” Brown said. “Because of it wasn’t for them – and my hard work – I wouldn’t be here.”
Brown got her start at MPS’ Hi-Mount Community School, a K4-8 school in the Washington Heights neighborhood on Milwaukee’s west side, before going on to Pulaski.
At Pulaski, Brown said her English classes were the most inspirational, but she did have the opportunity to take a medical biology course.
Now, she’s headed to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee to study nursing.
To the students at Hi-Mount and Pulaski following in her footsteps, Brown says the most lesson she can share is to “make sure you come to school prepared – and ready to learn and work.”
