Be in school on Day One! Milwaukee Public Schools launches a new schedule for the 2017-18 school year designed to help our students succeed. All high schools, middle schools and some elementary schools will follow an Early Start Calendar, with school beginning on August 14. A complete list of schools following the Early Start Calendar can be found at http://mpsmke.com/earlystart.
The early start calendar has a number of advantages that promote student success: students have more weeks of instruction prior to national ACT and AP testing dates; the first semester will end in December rather than carrying over after the holiday break; and students will have the opportunity to participate in the June Term (J-term) to catch up or get ahead.
Parents are asked to ensure that all students are in school on the first day and every day. If your child attends an Early Start school but will not be in school on August 14, please tell the school now. Failure to notify the school that your child will not be present on August 14 may result in your child losing his or her assignment in the school.

Students attending elementary schools following the Traditional Calendar will start school on September 5, 2017. Download the 2017-18 Traditional Calendar.
