Girl's Tech Alumnae Banquet

In 1909, Milwaukee Public Schools opened Milwaukee Girl’s Technical High School. The faculty consisted of eight teachers specializing in dressmaking, millinery and commercial education. The first class included 30 young women and by the end of the first year the school had grown to 87 students. During its first years of operation, the school gained lots of attention, enough to warrant a visit by President Teddy Roosevelt.

Generations of MPS graduates come together for inaugural MPS alumni reunion

Nearly 500 people representing MPS high schools and graduating classes from the 1930s through the 2000s, gathered at the BMO Harris Bradley Center to share stories from their high school days and catch up with each other. Many attendees wore their school colors and others broke out their treasured and well-preserve high school varsity jackets and sweaters. The festive evening featured entertainment from the Kevin Haden Band of Milwaukee.
