MPS drumlines compete this weekend

MPS drumlines compete this weekendMPS drumlines will roll out their best performances on Saturday, December 8, 2018, when the 16th Annual MPS Drumline Competition kicks off to crown the City Champion. Spectators will be treated to stick tricks, precision drumming, and showmanship in this dazzling contest. The battle will include Rufus King International School Varsity Drumline, the 2017–18 City Champion and winner of the 2018 Fresh Coast Classic.

Seven high school drumlines and three middle school groups are scheduled to appear. Attendees are encouraged and expected to cheer for their favorite teams from among MPS’ finest. Spectator tickets are $3 at the door.

Participating high school teams in 2018 are:

  • Milwaukee High School of the Arts
  • North Division High School
  • Ronald Wilson Reagan College Preparatory High School
  • Riverside University High School
  • Rufus King International School Varsity
  • Rufus King International School JV
  • Washington High School

Middle Schools represented at this year’s drumline competition are:

  • Golda Meir School
  • Milwaukee Parkside School for the Arts
  • Wedgewood Park International School

Rufus King International High School is located at 1801 W. Olive St. in Milwaukee.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and competition begins at 12:00 p.m. Awards will be presented at approximately 2:45 p.m.
